Description ISBN: 9780473104337Title: Footprints Of A Pioneer – A Hall StoryAuthor: NICHOLLS RAE Foreword for the 2nd EditionThe Hall family pays tribute to Rae Nicholls in her sterling efforts to reprint Footprints of a Pioneer, A Hall Story. The first book was published in 1982 in time for the Hall Reunion to celebrate 125 years in NewZealand. Since then Rae has made adjustments, additions and has included more photographs. It has been a labour of love from which the family have gained insight into our heritage. Rae must be commended for her tenacity and dedication in ensuring the production of an accurate historical document. In her endeavours Rae has been ably supported by Dora McMillan (Wilkinson] and Jean Milligan [Rackley] both of whom have spent many months and years developing and maintaining the fall family tree. Through their work a supplement containing the whole family tee including additions since 1982 will be published in 2007 for the 150 reunion of the Hall family. These three women, Rae, Dora, and Jean have the recognition of their endeavours appreciated by the bestowing of Life Membership of the William Hall Family Society Inc. upon them.A major development for the family was instigated in 2004 when members met to discuss the upcoming reunion. It was agreed then that the Hall Family Trust that had been nurtured by Rodney Appleton-Seymour and a few very dedicated others for over 20 years should evolve into an incorporated society. The creation of this ensures continuity, accountability, tax relief, and a system to ensure perpetuity for the Hall family. Rodney continues to hold the purse strings as treasurer of the Society and in recognition of his commitment and dedication over the years he has also been honoured with Life Membership of the Society. The Reunion Committee are to be applauded for their enthusiasm and dedication in the demanding task of organizing and administering the Hall Family Reunion to be held in 2007 in Waipukurau. It has been an honour to guide the Society to fruition and I appreciate the invaluable support of Rodney, April Bettelheim as Secretary and the ever present, dedicated, Jean and Dora, along with Barbara James, as committee members.I encourage you to enjoy and treasure Rae’s book, to participate with enthusiasm in the Reunion, and many more that will follow, to honour and respect our ancestors, and to assist in the continuity of the Hall Family heritage.Harry MillsPresidentThe William Hall Family Society Incorporated Format: HardbackPages: 264Available stock: 2
