Its size is big enough for 1 or 2 people’s worth of food, but if you use it over a wood fire without the 1012 it will either need to be a pretty small one so it straddles the stones,, or insert some stones/large logs inside the main fire to support it, or suspend it with an iron post. Stand-alone this grid is a better match for a stove burner. takes up no space in your kit due to its low profile. bring a plastic bag along to store it once cool so you don’t get grease /soot over your other stuff.
