I purchased this to replace a corrupted hard drive in a customers PS4 Slim. To my surprise, the hard drive was already formatted out of the box and it was as simple as plugging it in and installing the PlayStation files with a USB drive. I do have one but if advice which was mentioned a couple times by other people so I want to confirm – DO NOT unplug or shut off your PlayStation improperly. You absolutely must shut down the PlayStation the correct way every time. If you were to unplug the PlayStation without pressing “power down” first, the PlayStation will have to manually search for the new hard drive the next time you turn it on, and after improperly shutting down your console enough times, this generic hard drive will fail and you’ll be ordering a new one. If you can follow this simple rule then by all means this is a great deal.
